The Manikato

I had a FANTASTIC time at the Manikato at Moonee Valley last night. After a wee bit of rain, the weather settled down and we relaxed enjoyed some night racing.  I couldn't get a collect until the big race where I was able to take the trifecta and quinella so I left with some spending money!

I wore purple with a small head piece as the Manikato is not a race night for high fashion.
I am really looking forward to putting a few bets down today.

Good luck in the Cox Plate.

Tina's Tips

Hello Ladies welcome back

Well my tip for last Saturday  in the Caulfield Cup - DANDINO  run second,  I hope I can do better in the tipping this week.

This week it's off to Moonee Valley for the Cox Plate,

I like Race 7 - No 5 - PRECEDENCE - he needs to win to secure a position in the Melbourne Cup, he has been a great old horse won this race in 2010 and finished fourth last year, you never know with Bart.

Race 10  - No 8 - PUISSANCE DE LUNE  - looks ready to run a great race.

Good luck

Tina's Tips

Hello ladies,
All it's been a busy week of racing and today is going to be a big day at Caulfield, It's the Caulfield Cup.First race is 12.15 pm
and the last is at 5.45 pm, and it looks like it is going to be a lovely day.

My first pick of the day is Race  6 - No 2 - PINWHEEL,  owned by Sheikh Mohammed who has had a lot of luck with his horses this year, they are all come out of the mounting yard looking trim, taunt and terrific!

Next is Race 9 - No - 10 - AEROBATICS again the Sheikhs' horse but I seen this run home on Wednesday day at the 1000 Guineas had great run and won.

The Last Race of the day BMW Caulfield Cup No 2 - DANDINO the only reason that I have picked this horse is that it won at Arlington racetrack in USA, I have visited this track with friends and had a great day.

Good luck, have fun

1000 Guineas

What a great race day! This has been ladies day for Tina and myself for several years. It is a great crowd at Caulfield and a chance to skip out of work.  Fashion is 1950s for me.

TAB Tuesday

The trifecta is such a fun bet and I do the tri for every race. I love them.

To bet the trifecta, you select the first three horses across the finish line in the correct order. (So, don't forget to box the bet so the horses can come in any order.)

The race calculator looks like this:

3 horses - $6
4 horses - $24
5 horses - $60
6 horses - $120
7 horses - $210
8 horses - $336

How did we do?

For fashion- I give us a 10! Both my ensemble and Tina's checked all the boxes!
For betting - not so great. Had a couple of trifectas and several quinellas, but...went hard in the Guineas and lost.  Better luck on Wednesday.

Guineas!

I am so excited! I am just about to head out the door to have my hair done! My hat is stunning and it is my favorite race day outfit for 2013.

I love Guineas! Not only is it a great race but a great race day. I am very hot on El Roca for the Guineas and Bello for the Weekend Hustler Stakes.

I hope you are going to the races today as well. It is a beautiful day in Melbourne and a fantastic day for racing.

Tina's Tips

Hello Ladies,

One of my favourite race days Caulfield Guineas, It's all about fashion fun and of course picking the winners.
I have been madly shopping to get the right outfit and hat but most importantly the shoes have too be gorgeous but super comfortable.
Caulfield Guineas Day is a cause for great celebration, as it is the opening to the Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival, with Caulfield Guineas as the feature event, it is a Group 1 race for 3 year olds, run over 1600 metres at  set weights.

Here's a couple of horses that I like

Race 2 -Thoroughbred Club Stakes - No 5 - ANATINA won last two starts and has a great name!!

Race 4 - Schweppes Schillaci Stakes - No 6 - UNPRETENTIOUS- good each way bet

Race 10 - Beck Caulfield Guineas- No 10 - EL ROCA - terrific run last start, has come over from New Zealand for this Race, with Craig Newitt riding sure to win.

Good luck for the day , hope you all have a win.

TAB Tuesday

The exacta is similar to the quinella except you must select the horses in the correct order. Most punters will box the bet so that either horse can come in first or second place.

A boxed exacta should pay out at least twice as much as a quinella but that is not always the case. Particularly, during spring carnival when a lot of new punters put their money into the TAB pools.

Bet the quinella!

Tina's Tips

Hello ladies

This week we are at Flemington

I have to have a pick  in Race 6 - The Bart Cummings  No 2 - TANBY - races well at Flemington,  Nick Hall has continued his winning form this week with a double at Kilmore and a win at Ballarat.

Race 8 - The Turnbull Stakes is the first major Group 1 race of the Spring carnival with a lot of good horses racing,
I like No 6 - FIORENTE-  fantastic win last start and finished second in last years Melbourne Cup and it's trained by Gai Waterhouse, No 7 - PUISSANCE DE LUNE - will like the extra distance.

Happy punting

TAB Tuesday

I LOVE the quinella bet for beginners. There is a nice payout and winning a multiples bet is always fun.

A quinella is when you pick the first two horses that will finish first and second in any order. You do not need to "box" a quinella as it is by definition, a boxed bet.

You can put as many horses into the bet as you want, but the cost gets exponentially more expensive. The quinella calculator looks like this:

$1 bet
2 horses - $2
3 horses - $3
4 horses - $6
5 horses - $10
6 horses - $15
7 horses - $21
8 horses - $28
9 horses - $36

So ladies, if there are 8 races, you can pick 4 horses for each race and spend $48 for the day. That is a reasonable day with the opportunity for some big payouts! FUN!!!!
